Becoming a parent, or adding a new baby to your growing family, can be a big change! Our Doulas/NCS offer caring and non-judgmental support after the birth of your baby. Having someone there to help with newborn care can help make this major life transition smooth, easy and enjoyable! Anytime, day or night, our Postpartum Doulas/NCS offer the exceptional support your growing family deserves.

As part of becoming certified as Postpartum Doula/NCS, our team’s mandatory training includes staying current on the recommendations set forth by the American Academy of Pediatrics regarding safe sleep and other health and safety information. Balanced Bellies has a birth and postpartum team with unique backgrounds, talents and areas of expertise that they’re excited to offer to your family.

Your Doula/NCS is there with a non-judgmental listening ear. To encourage, reassure and affirm by giving you the space to thrive during this new season in life and not just survive. We also have Doulas that specialize in Postpartum Depression if you have a history of depression/anxiety or currently have it.

Prior to the birth, your doula may help with the following:
  • Registry assistance
  • Providing resources for childbirth education
  • Helping with nursery set up
  • Assisting with daycare/nanny research
  • Aiding with pediatrician interviews and selection
Postpartum support includes:

Day Time Doula Care

Our Postpartum Doulas/Newborn Care Specialists (NCS) work 4-8 hours daytime shifts (minimum 4 hours). Day time support can be anywhere from helping you give your newborn their first bath to tending to your newborn while you take a shower or a nap.

Overnight Doula Care

Postpartum Doulas/Newborn Care Specialists (NCS) work 8-12-hour overnight shifts (minimum 8 hours). Terms vary in length between 2 weeks and 6 months; on average families hire a Postpartum Doula/NCS for approximately 12 weeks (or until their baby is successfully sleeping through the night). Having overnight care establishes healthy sleep habits for your newborn(s) and allows parent(s) to get a good night rest.

24 Hour Doula Care

Having a postpartum doula by your side to compassionately help you through this life-changing transition can positively influence your bonding experience with your child and your memory of your postpartum period for the rest of your life. 24 hour newborn care is offered from 1 day up to 6 months, which can help the transition into this new season of life.

Travel Doula Care

Have a work trip or vacation planned? Having an extra set of hands, a calm presence, baby going through a sleep regression, having someone familiar can help make traveling with a newborn much more smooth. Our doulas/NCS will travel in the states and internationally.
