Where are you originally from and why did you become a doula?

I am from Baltimore, MD. A friend of mine was talking about becoming a doula & as I read what they do, I realized I wanted to become one, too. I loved being pregnant, being a mom and talking to family and friends about all things pregnancy & motherhood.

Do you specialize in a particular area of newborn care?

Helping parents to identify which of "the five S's of soothing" work best for their baby(ies)

What do you enjoy about working with new families and newborns?

I love everything about it but helping to sooth newborns and to reassure new parents that they are doing well!

If there was one thing you wish everyone knew about doulas (birth or postpartum), what would it be?

Doulas are here to offer support and help out however we can. We don't intend to replace support people, partners or anyone else.

What's your Top 5 Registry Must Haves for new parents?

1) Diapers

2) Wipes

3) Diaper pail

4) Microwaveable bottle sanitizers

5) More diapers

What do you hope to bring to a Birth?

I hope to bring a sense of peace, added support and valuable knowledge to a birth.

What are some organizations that are near and dear to you?

My church and programs that serve to mentor young girls (such as Girl Scouts of Central Maryland)

What is your favorite book/author/movie/band? Why?

One of my favorite books AND movies is "The Devil wears Prada". I love to see the story of Andrea who undergoes such an amazing transformation.

What do you enjoy outside of Doula work?

I love spending time with my daughter, baking/cooking and reading!

Do you have any favorite quotes or poems?

The quote/poem that starts with "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure."

If you could have any super power, what would it be?

Either invisibility or invincibility...I'm not sure of which!
