I am originally from Michigan, but have been living in New York City for over a decade. I came to doula work through the yoga world. I teach yoga classes to women who have experienced trauma. I realize how important it is to offer a comfortable space for people to feel seen, heard, supported and empowered. That's when the idea of becoming a doula came to me. I teach prenatal and postnatal yoga, and incorporate mindfulness practices when supporting my clients.
My calming presence allowed them to feel supported.
What I enjoy most about working with new families and newborns is simply the idea of being invited into this sacred space and helping them transition into their new idea of what their family is. I love being able to support parents to make this transition any way possible, and of course enjoying the first weeks of a newborn's life.
Doulas are here to support you and your vision of birth and parenting. We are here to offer emotional, physical, and mental support as well as providing you with resources so that you can make your own informed decisions. We are here for you, and we believe in you.
I actually had no idea what a doula was until I attended my 200 hour yoga teacher training! During our prenatal yoga day, I was the person who asked the question "what is a doula?" At the time, I had no interest in this work. However, I truly believed it found me. :)
